Project Cars career mode invitational races. The second race in the Road TD British Track Challenge at Oulton Park, driving the Caterham Superlight R500.
Qualified towards the back again so started the race with the aim of being the first Caterham. Since qualifying I made some force feedback changes which gave me a lot more cornering speed and control over the naturally loose Superlight - one of the things that makes it such fun.
I was running really well and was battling with the same driver as in the previous round at Snetterton. Once I realized that I wasn't going to catch the V8 Vantages ahead of me I concentrated on staying ahead of the pack behind me.
I was pretty comfortable in 18th and able to stay ahead of the next Caterham without too much trouble. Then on lap 5, I had my second encounter with a Project Cars bug. This time it was the invisible object collision!
I've seen a few videos of this much discussed problem, usually involving cars hitting invisible cars or walls, causing some quite amusing crashes (well, amusing if it's not you at least). Mine was slightly different in that it felt distinctly as though I was hit from behind, although clearly there were no other cars remotely close to me. Sure made me jump and wrenched the wheel out of my hands. I saved it but it was enough to let my rival past and pull enough of a lead over me to cross the line in front. I obviously suffered some damage too, the car feeling decidedly strange after the shunt.
It was a shame but in the overall scheme of things nothing was really lost but a place. Had I been battling for the win though, it could have been pretty annoying.
